Daily Question #54

Connect to a term. Lot of hints in pic.

Cracked by raghu, Ajay, A:Might and V.Chandrashekar!

Answer : McCarthyism is the politically motivated practice of making accusations of disloyalty, subversion, or treason without proper regard for evidence. The term specifically describes activities associated with the period in the United States known as the Second Red Scare, lasting roughly from the late 1940s to the late 1950s and characterized by heightened fears of Communist influence on American institutions.

- Senator Joseph McCarthy after whom it is named
- Hollywood Ten/ Hollywood Blacklist who were denied employment due to their alleged communist influence
- The term was coined in this Washington Post cartoon by Herbert Block
- A 1947 comic book published by the Catechetical Guild Educational Society warning of the supposed dangers of a Communist takeover

Thanx for your encouragement, Barun! Keep visiting..
